• There is no such thing as too much food at a Super Bowl Party.   But keep the menu simple. Don't spend the entire game in the kitchen. Pot-luck works really well at a Super Bowl party. Sign-up guests to bring their favorite appetizers, dips or desserts.  Don't be afraid of the old standbys such as smoky links, sausage cheese dip and more chips than should be allowed by law. And for the health conscious, chicken wings! If in a creative mood, have food that is based on the local cuisine of the two teams. If the New Orleans Saints play the San Diego Chargers, break out the Jambalaya and Fish Tacos.
  • Astro-turf your tables. Get green indoor/outdoor carpet and use it as a table cloth.  Use sports tape or masking tape for the yard-lines. Use empty tubes from your Christmas wrappings or paper towels and make goal-posts. An upside down helmet makes a great place to put a bowl of dip (Ironic isn't it).
  • Bags and bags of Ice.  Think of how frustrating it is going to be having to go to the Quickie-mart all painted up in your team colors to get a bag of ice and then to have your team score the winning touchdown on your way back to the party.  Spend the extra pennies and stock-up beforehand. Plan on approximately one pound per adult guest for the evening.
  • Have more than one TV at the party. Try to fill each room with either a TV or Radio. As your die-hard fans get up and stretch, they won't miss a thing.  If at all possible, use a BIG SCREEN TV or a Projector on a blank wall.  There was a church in Florida that projected a huge image of the game on the outside wall of the building for an outdoor party.  People from 2 blocks away were watching the game.  I have even known some parties to have placed a small "emergency TV" in the bathroom. And if you have guests aren't really interested in the game (heathens!) have a place for them to watch and talk without bothering the game fanatics.
  • Go on-line.  There are sites on the internet that will help you add excitement to your party.  Go to www.NFL.com/stats and find statistics on the players, coaches and waterboy. www.superbowl.com has voting buttons for MVP of the game. www.SportsSpectrum.com has Christian testimonies of various NFL players for you to read.  You could even print some of them out and use them for discussion points during game-breaks. There are minute by minute updates at various locations that will show current records and trivia.  Have the computer set up so that you can e-mail other die hard fans and make fun of the fact that their team is behind 59 to 0.  If you're up to it,  set up a web-cam and link various church parties together! And remember, if you can't do it, find a teenager who can.
